Our Story - The Roxbury Vision

The Roxbury Vision centers on having a passionate heart for God. That passion drives who we are.

Our Purpose: To bring glory to God

Our Mission: To know Christ and to make Him known.

Passion for God is the starting place and our goal; it is our end result and our home plate that we are shooting for (Mk 12:28-30; Mt 28:18-20).

Prayer is all about God and is both the by-product of a love relationship with Him and the driving force behind our movement around this ministry dynamic. Through prayer we individually and corporately bring others (and strengthen ourselves) in this love relationship and passion for God. And to love God means to radically follow Jesus wherever He sends us and to do whatever He calls us to do.

Our Ministry Dynamic is represented in the diagram below:

Encountering the Christ is about God’s Heart and His Love for the Lost. As a result Roxbury will create opportunities for non-believers to Encounter Christ and fuel a mission-mindset among us which is focused both in Janesville and abroad. Encountering Christ naturally leads us to interact with Him.

Interacting with Christ is about God’s Perspective and having His Mind in us. We interact by daily responding to His initiatives and commands (encounters). Through regular practices like worship, Bible study, meditation, prayer, and vital relationships with other believers, we are equipped in our faith and propelled to share our faith with others. To interact with Christ unleashes His life (Spirit) in us and our passion for Him.
That leads to living…

Living like Christ is about God’s life (Spirit) and His Ministry done through us. Living means growing for the better in our character, service and witness wherever we are. Though imperfect, Roxbury is the living lens through which Janesville (and the world) sees Christ and the physical body through which Christ does His work. To live for and like Christ is to fulfill our calling to be and to make disciples (Matthew 28: 18-20). Living is doing the work of missions so that others encounter Him!
