Begin a New Life with Jesus

Saying YES to Jesus and following Him is the best decision you will ever make. Not only does it affect your life now, but it affects your life forever!

God created mankind (you) for relationship, with Himself and with one another. However, from about the third page in the Bible onward, our Creator God pursues us to recapture a relationship we’ve rejected.  This separation is called sin and to this day we suffer the effects of this broken trust.

Thankfully and amazingly, God so loves a rebellious world and that includes you and everyone else (John 3:16)!  The storyline of scripture is that God’s love is unfailing.  He sent His Son Jesus to bridge the gap our sin has caused, by dying in our place and restoring us to a right relationship with Him.  He lives to offer us this gift.  We don’t earn it; we receive it by faith (Ephesians 2:8-10). Then begins the adventure!

Being a disciple (follower) of Jesus is more than “steps”, but it does involve some (A,B,C):

Step 1: ADMITRealize that you have a personal problem called sin that has separated you from God. Surrender to that fact that you can’t fix it, but Jesus can.

1 JOHN 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Step 2: BELIEVEBelieve that God sent His son Jesus as the solution to your problem. He died on the cross, paying the price your sin owes.  He was raised to life, not just to assure you of a new beginning but a perfect ending.  And His transforming Spirit is His guarantee that He will finish what He starts.

Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

Step 3: CONFESSConfess means to “agree with and make it known”.  Placing your trust in Jesus is to agree with God’s assessment of your problem and His solution of saving your soul while transforming your life and relationships.  And though this is personal, it isn’t private.  A follower of Christ lives to know Him and to make Him known.  As a believer, the biblical and confessional practice of making your faith public is Christian baptism. This one-time confession is followed by a life-long adventure of being “all in” with Jesus and for others.  In this way our whole life becomes a confession of the love of God.  We’re saved to share and to serve.

Romans 10:9,13-15  If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved…How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news”

THEN WHAT?  Being a disciple (follower) instantly connects you to other disciples (church).  It also calls you to be there for others as people have been there for you.  Or as we say, “Make disciples who make disciples in relational environments”.  That is to say, we need each other to grow!  So, please get connected.  Roxbury would be thrilled to have you as part of our community, or seek out a Christ-centered, Bible-believing fellowship near you.  But don’t just “go” to church; “be” the church. If you made this decision or have any questions, we want to know!
